Errol Spence on the progress of negotiations for the game against Terence Crawford: “Looks great”

“That’s how I think about it,” said Errol Spence ESNews in a recent video. “I just want to be fit and fit.” Spence, speaking from a busy gym, is his usual easygoing self in the clip. “I only care about my business people,” he said. Indeed, Spence was not the one to begin speaking out. Let other fighters do the same. Spence willingly let his fists speak for him. With that said, the Texan is well aware of the fact that fans want to see him face off against fellow welterweight Terence Crawford… and apparently, the two sides are negotiating again.

So how did the negotiation go?

“It looks great,” Spence said. That’s good news for the fans. However, it is understandable why the public is skeptical of such a seemingly positive development. After all, negotiations between Camp Spence and Crawford have failed recently. Furthermore, major battles are rare these days. Sure, Tank Davis recently successfully fought Ryan Garcia in a legit superfight, but sadly, that’s still the exception, not the rule.

However, for his part, Spence, the WBC, WBA and IBF player seems to really want to take down the WBO player Crawford. “I was waiting for the fight,” he said. “I could fight anyone in that moment… but I told them no, I wanted Terence Crawford.” It was clear that Crawford himself wanted the war to end. So why hasn’t it been implemented yet? Because contemporary boxing is a mess. Sometimes the fighter asks himself for too much – and many other times the fighter ends up getting the end of the stick. They are wise to be careful at the negotiating table. With that said, it’s annoying that so few high-profile fights are done in this day and age.

Moreover, Spence 28-0 is now 33 years old. Without a doubt, he is one of the most accomplished and talented fighters in the game. Crawford himself is now 35 years old. Boasting a 39-0 record, he is also one of the most accomplished and talented boxers in the business. Neither man is young again, so it’s time to fight. Indeed, a Spence-Crawford fight is long overdue. However, it is one of those sports that will come true. After all, every boxer sits on top of a heavyweight hill, which means the bout is still very much involved.
