Empty the Shelters Summer 2023 Event Planned by BISSELL Pet Foundation, MetLife Pet Insurance
From July 6 to 31, 2023, the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s National Summer “Clean Up Shelter” Festival will take place at more than 335 shelters in 44 states with euthanized pets. Real, vaccinated, ready to adopt for as little as $50 or less.
This event is one of many quarterly “Empty the Shelters” events scheduled by BISSELL Pet Organizationa national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness.
The Foundation has partnered with MetLife Pet Insurance for a July event with the goal of helping pets find and stay in loving homes.

While BISSELL During the Pet Foundation’s “Clean the Shelter” quarterly national events, nearly 1,200 shelter pets are adopted each day.
Many shelters are currently at or beyond capacity for a variety of reasons:
- kitten and puppy season
- an increase in strays who have escaped and have not yet been claimed
- Owners surrender because of economic conditions and lack of medical care

Since it started in 2016, more than 158,000 pets in the United States and Canada have been adopted and found second chances.

During this event, BISSELL Pet Foundation will provide a free 30-day policy offered by MetLife Pet to adopters who can help them get reimbursement for unexpected veterinary expensesthus promoting a healthy start.
