2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE
Quick get: EQE offers all the good things of a tradition electronic class in electrical form. Its design is very simple and bland, but everything else about it is well done.
Point: 7.5
What it competes with: Porsche Taycan, Audi E-Tron GT, Tesla Model WILL, bmw i4
Advantage: Gorgeous interior, large rear seats, cutting-edge technology, great-drive AMG variant
Defect: Bland design, average range/charging speed, questionable value
From the editors:
Zac Palmer, Road Test Editor – “I’ve flown the AMG version of the EQE, and although it’s an EV rocket ship, it lacks the unmatched nature of gasoline-powered AMG versions The interior of the E-Class is nice, but I can’t say the same for the exterior, even with the AMG add-ons. AMG EQE It’s a perfect Benz, but I wouldn’t go so far as to call it the perfect AMG product.”

From the editors:
Senior Editor, Green John Beltz Snyder — “The segment is a competitive one, but X1 set itself apart as the driver’s car. Its nimble handling helps it get ahead, but it doesn’t compromise comfort in the meantime. Also, say what you want about the evolution of BMW’s kidney grille, but I think it looks sharp here on the X1’s sculpted nose. This compact crossover is engaging inside and out, and the experience only gets better when you’re behind the wheel, heading down the winding road behind.”

From the editors:
Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore — “This is a difficult niche to enter. When the main competition is Rolls-Royce Cullinan, it should be good. And Bentley Bentayga To be. It has the look and feel of being part of a strong, stylish Bentley, befitting the shape of an SUV. But it goes further. Instead of just being loaded, it is creatively designed to enhance the quality of life for passengers, especially those in the rear. The airline’s special seats can recline, massage and comfort passengers in countless ways, making the Bentayga feel like something different and special. There’s also leather, a colorful display and a veneer picnic table in the back, making the Bentayga a truly first-rate comfortable car. How does it drive? Not bad. After all, it’s a 542-horsepower V8. But the real story is in the backseat.”

I love letting it chart its own course on long highway excursions using the hands-free driving assist, but I also love driving it around a twisty road.
