Eddy Reynoso: “No final decision yet” on Canelo’s next move
By: Sean Crose
“Hi, I’m grateful to announce that there are offers for Canelo’s next game from PBC and the room. Negotiations are still underway. The final decision has not yet been made. Currently, all the information published yesterday has no facts or basis behind it. Once we have an agreement signed, our team will be the first to notify the public. ”
And with that single social media post, Canelo Alvarez’s coach, Eddy Reynoso, weighed in on reports floating around the industry that Canelo is close to signing a massive fighting deal with DAZN that could yield up to one hundred million dollars. The contract reportedly will require Canelo to battle undefeated light heavyweight Dmitry Bivol and – if he is beaten by Bivol – archenemy Gennady Golovkin for a third time.
It remains unclear whether that reported DAZN contract was signed, or even if it was even real. However, early reports of the story coming from reliable websites suggest that the rumor may at least be close to the truth (“probably” is the word that works here). The reality is that Canelo – the most popular boxer on earth – has a selection of opponents to choose from. If he decides to go against Bivol and Golovkin, he can always decide to face notable PBC boxers, such as Jermall Charlo and David Benevides.
