JJ Watt presents his brother TJ Watt with NFL DPOY in a heartwarming moment of NFL Honors
Forget like a father, like a son. In the Watt household, it’s like brothers, like brothers when it comes to being a standout defender on the field.
That was reinforced on Thursday at the 2022 NFL Honor in the lead-up to Super Bowl 56. JJ Watt, a three-time Associated Press NFL Defensive Player, presented younger brother TJ with the award for the 2021 season. It was TJ’s first DPOY.

TJ Watt surpassed Michael Strahan’s single-season NFL firing record of 22.5 while also leading the league in tackles (21) and quarterbacks (39). This is the second year in a row that TJ Watt has led the league in all three categories.

Last season, he finished second in the DPOY poll last season when the Rams blocked Aaron Donald’s defense. Watt made it clear at the time that he thought he should have won the award.

This year, there’s no question about whether Watt deserved it or not, but that didn’t stop Twitter from cheering as it also celebrated the moment JJ presented TJ with the award.

JJ Watt awarded the DPOY? I mean, now it can REALLY only come to a guy.

TJ Watt becomes the eighth Steeler to be voted DPOY, the most of any franchise. He’s the first Pittsburgh player to win it since safety Troy Polamalu in 2011.
