Eddie Hearn: “I don’t think Tyson Fury is a big boxer, if it’s late, I support Dillian Whyte”

Tyson Fury is talking about a big fight as his heavyweight bout with Dillian Whyte draws near. Fury will officially place his WBC world title against Whyte on April 23, at Wembley Stadium, UK, with an expected audience of over 100,000.

Towards the end, Fury showed extreme confidence in his ability to get his opponent out of their misery before the final bell rang. Although Fury has won a few sensational knockouts recently, promoter Eddie Hearn refuses to consider him a major knockout artist.

“I don’t think Tyson Fury is a big heavyweight,” Hearn told IFL TV. “If you list the top five, six boys on the team, he’s not superior in terms of his strength. You look at his resume, whether it’s [Christian] Hammer, whether it [Dereck] Chisora, whether it’s [Wladimir] Klitschko, whether it is [Otto] Wallin, he was never an explosive puncher. ”

Despite Hearn’s dubious view of Fury’s prowess, the undefeated heavyweight not only became the first man to beat Deontay Wilder, but the British-born did so without a judge’s scorecard. . In particular, in the final fight of their three-part sequel, Fury defeated Wilder in the ring. As a result, Wilder hit the deck in rounds 3, 10, and 11 before succumbing to Fury’s power in the penultimate round.

Without much choice, Hearn admits that Fury has done his job very well. However, he doesn’t believe it was a strange blow that ended Wilder’s night.

“He stopped Deontay Wilder more with the pressure and pace of work. But I don’t think he’s an expert in direct combat. I feel like Dillian Whyte.”

In Whyte, while he has demonstrated the ability to stop opponents right on their tracks, he has only recorded two knockout wins in his past six ring appearances. Most recently, however, Whyte showed his strength against previous heavyweight contender, Alexander Povetkin.

Whyte bounced back from a shocking defeat at the hands of Povetkin in August 2020, to score his own knockout victory over the former Russian star in March 2021. More than just cracking ability, Whyte also willing to bite people born. his mouthpiece and fight when necessary.

It is those traits, coupled with his strength, which, in Hearn’s view, will allow Whyte to carry on when the fight turns tough with Fury.
