Vote early provided coach Chad Brown and owner Klaravich Stables a second straight win in a Withers Stakes (G3) match on February 5 at Aqueduct race track and was reported to be in good form on Sunday morning.

Stupp said Early Voting has vastly improved over his maiden scores.
“When I first got him, he was a bit far from a race, unadaptable and difficult to train. As the work progressed and as we drew closer to his debut date, I saw it. a good horse,” recalls Stupp. “When we let him run for the first time, we knew he wanted to run longer. We needed him to run once from both a conditioning and maturity point of view. Stupp oversees last year’s Withers winner’s winter campaign Take risks who also trained at Belmont during the winter.
“Take the risk and he is completely different,” said Stupp. “The adventurous challenge was straight forward and was his man. This horse is a late-developed horse. It needs experience, it needs every race to move forward from a conditioning point of view.”
The other two Kentucky Derbys presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) at the Aqueduct are Gotham Stakes (G3) at the first leg on March 5 and Wood Memorial Stakes presented by Resorts World Casino (G2) at nine floors of the day. Dutrow said he hopes that the two extra extension springs in Withers will be useful to Un Ojo after a crushing defeat in the December 18 Great White Way match of the New York Stakes Series.
“We believe a mile and an eighth would be good,” Dutrow said. “We’re very pleased with his effort. He’s a tiny New Yorker with one eye. He’s overdone every run. The horses that came from last did a great job on the road. racing there, so I told Trevor (McCarthy) to run late and get out in the middle of the road. I’m proud of our pony’s effort.”
Dutrow said Un Ojo’s effort in Withers confirms that he will stay the route distance in the future, ruling out a Gotham start but leaving the door open to a Wood Memorial run.
“The owner was very enthusiastic and wanted to talk yesterday about the next place, but I’m not ready for that just yet,” Dutrow said. “We both agree that we won’t go to Gotham. Maybe we run in a New York-bred grant in the amount of 9 to get him a well-deserved reward for his efforts. It’s going to give him a lot of confidence if we go to Wood Memorial. It’s going to be his favorite distance on a track that he likes.”
Possible draft for Carter
After appearing several times in front of the New York sprint joint stock company, Dublin Fjord Stables, Racepoint Stables, Kevin Hilbert and veteran Thomas O’Keefe Editor scored a breakout win on Saturday’s rescheduled Toboggan Staking (G3).

Coach David Duggan said: “He is an unapproachable horse. “To get him back in his place, we know he has talent but has had some personality issues along the way. There is no easy race here. Senior debt collectors sometimes like stake horses.”
Duggan said a draw prepared under the Seven-Card Carter Handicap (G1) on April 9 would be more appropriate than the March 5 Tom Fool Handicap (G3).
“It’s going to have to be,” Duggan said when asked if Carter was an option. “He runs a 97 Beyer horse, so numbers wise, it gets you there. Yesterday’s numbers reflect that he’s a better seven-eighth horse. That’s pretty obvious. We’ve run six stretches because it’s there. We’re going to enjoy this and go from there.”
Coach Michelle Nevin says she’ll think carefully about where to run Jay Em Ess Stable’s Just happy followed after the 4-year-old finished a disappointing third in Toboggan as team favorites 1-5.
Nevin said the muddy and difficult main track, along with an inside ride, contributed to his 10 1/2-length defeat.
“The rails are a factor in everything,” Nevin said. “It just seems to be deeper on the rails. “We’ll just have to see how things develop over the next few days. I don’t see any problem. We’ll take our time and wait and see.”
