Supersport TT Race Two

His Michael Dunlop clinched 2nd Win Supersport race of the week at TT after another thrilling battle with Peter Hickman. Winning is 21st in the career of the Ballymoney man and he is now only 5 behind Uncle Joey in the all-time ranking. The 2-lap sprint saw Dunlop and Hickman engage in a classic twins rematch on Wednesday, but this time Dunlop went far ahead and won by 3 seconds. Dean Harrison came home in year 3rd about 20 seconds back, a bit outdated in less than perfect conditions.
This Monster Energy Supersport 2 race was originally scheduled to run on Wednesday afternoon. However, Manx weather has been playing the game since the end of Twins TT and after it was rescheduled for Thursday and then cancelled, the race finally started at 10:45am on Thursday. Six.
As always, John McGuinness (who was under ‘beer pressure’ from Davey Todd and others got a tattoo the night before his 100th anniversaryorder TT at this year’s races) have everything going on no. 1. However, for whatever reason, McPint failed to catch up and Dean Harrison was caught and overtaken in the street by Greeba.
At Glen Helen Dunlop led Harrison by 1.9 seconds. But when Hickman passed (always had to wait and see where number 10 was), it was reported that the leaders were virtually inseparable. That first check sets the theme for the whole race.
Harrison will never challenge them and slowly drift away from the leaders as the race develops, comfortably in 3rd but out of the race to win. Behind him, Davey Todd, Jamie Coward and Lee Johnston are removing it for 4order.
The forward pair are setting an unbelievable pace with the conditions. Slippery roads and strong winds have caused problems throughout the Mountain circuits; However, that doesn’t seem to bother Dunlop and Hickman as they go head-to-head.
It’s just a fraction of a second at each split with MD always coming in front. Crazy speed. As it stretched to 0.9 seconds at Bungalow on L1, Manx Radio commentator Chris Kinley clearly needed a moment to gather his thoughts, ‘we’ll call it a second’, he said. cried. There were no stops in this 40-minute sprint and the leaders went straight through the stands at the end of round 1. All but Lee Johnston. The 2019 winner has had a rough week and that continues as he continues after competing for a spot in the top 6.
‘I’ve been struggling with my eyes all week’ he admitted in the pitlane. “I tried different eye drops today but I know I can’t see 5 miles clearly. I promised the team that if it didn’t get any better, I would join – that’s the rule. I have no interest in 5order or 6order”.
The Fermanagh man’s revelations explain much behind a poor TT by his standards.
Former racer, (currently on microphone duty) Mark Miller describes Michael Dunlop as ‘using all the roads’ at Ballacraine on 2nd electrical circuit. With Glen Helen, the gap was 1.8 seconds but the next minute in Ballaugh, Hickman was back by half a second. Is this a Hickman fee? Dunlop was won back by a few tenths by Ramsey and at that stage (in terrible conditions) the pair hit a record speed….
However, the Trooper Triumph caught James Hillier on the street (6 years old at the timeorder) and it was noted that that could be good or bad for Hickman depending on where he caught the zero. 5. Miller calculated that if Hickman caught Hillier anywhere but the Mountain mile, it would hinder him.
And that may well be the case. For the leader went to 2.7 seconds at Bungalow and was 3 on the node in Cronk-ny-Mona. In the end, Dunlop won 3.2 seconds to claim the famous double, denying the opportunity to equal Ian Hutchinson’s famous five wins in a single week of 2010. Harrison completed the podium 21 seconds or so. but 18 years old up 4th.
In the end, Davey Todd trails Harrison with Jamie Coward in 5order 6 seconds back. Conor Cummins sneaks in 6order.

“It’s been a tough week – it’s been tight. ” Dunlop said. “But I always say when the job is right, I’m right. I thought Pete’s bike would climb the mountain better thanks to his engine, but my little doll kept going and I just pedaled a little harder. ”

“It was really strong wind. I’m just trying to get the feel… the aerodynamics on the Triumph aren’t as good as the Yam and Kawa- especially with me on it. ”

Dunlop’s final lap was just six seconds short of the lap record, which is quite unbelievable given the conditions.
Rennie Scaysbrook finished at 37order; this is quite consistent with the position he has placed on the timesheet all week. Rennie spoke to Manx radio shortly after the race.

“Inot a very windy Isle of Man, but that’s part of it. Hailwood Heights and correctly named Windy Corners suck. I was focused on catching a black r6 racer but forgot to back off Crosby – that’s a bit of a concern. But I’m just glad I made it through – one-piece bike, one-piece me.. it’s time to relax. ”
The Senior will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday. There has been some doubt as to whether it can go ahead due to the lack of Marshalls (many will leave the island tonight or tomorrow morning) but after an appeal, there were enough numbers and the blue ice race would close TT 2022. Glenn Irwin shares the news that his brothers Andrew and Graeme were among those who answered the call for help. The fastest newbie of all time will be hoping to run at 130mph during the race.
