Many people get Ring doorbell cameras to scare away unwanted guests, record evidence of burglaries, and prevent break-ins.
There are many stories of cameras being used for those purposes, but sometimes, they can be used for much bigger things – like saving the lives of four animals.
That was recently witnessed in Scotts Valley, California when a kind Samaritan used a Ring doorbell system to rescue four pets from a burning house.

Based on WTHR 13, an unidentified man was jogging in the neighborhood of a small town in Santa Cruz County when he noticed smoke coming from the garage of a home.
After approaching the house, he realized no one was home, so he used the Ring doorbell to call the homeowner, Courtney Polito.
In the clip, you can hear the Good Samaritan saying, “Hello, do you see smoke coming from the roof of your house?”

When Polito became aware of the situation, she quickly gave the man her home security code so he could enter the house and save her four pets: two hounds, a rabbit, and a cat .
The man also called 911 so the fire brigade would be called to the house and prevent the fire from spreading. Because of his actions, not only the family’s house was saved, but all the animals survived.
The home suffered smoke damage, including damage to cabinets, Christmas presents and a Chevy Blazer. In the end, the family is just happy, things do not escalate further.
Speaking to WTHR 13, Polito said, “The fire department said it was 10 minutes and the house would be gone. I just want to say thank you [the Good Samaritan] a lot and let him know how grateful we are to us. My children, my husband, we would be devastated if we lost our pets let alone our house.”
