On a rainy afternoon, Mayane Rodrigues happened to look out the window, at the right moment, and discovered something that truly touched her heart. Luckily, she thought of grabbing her phone and immediately started recording.
Thousands of people on the internet were glad she did as the video went viral. It was a heartwarming moment to witness.
A young girl was on her way home from school when she suddenly stopped on the soggy sidewalk. Without hesitation, she put her umbrella on the ground, and took off her coat. At that time Mayane Notice that there is a small puppy, sitting on the ground, at her feet. Seconds later, the young woman crouched down, cradled the drenched dog in her arms, and continued her wet walk home.
“It all happened so fast. It was very emotional. I sent the video to a friend who shared it with a group of neighbors, and then I found out who the angel was,” Mayane said. Rodrigues, the cinematographer said.
Turns out the sweet savior’s name is Cibely and she’s 12 years old. Of course she couldn’t leave the precious dog there on the wet pavement alone. Not only was it raining and the puppy was soaked, but there were also a lot of cars passing by. What if she wanders the streets?
Plus, Cibely was apparently the puppy who had suffered a minor injury.
“I was startled when she arrived with the puppy because she was drenched in sweat after the rain. There’s blood on her shirt. I thought he was hurt, but he told me he saw the injured puppy,” recalls Rejane Stiegelmair, Cibely’s mother.
Fortunately, the puppy’s injuries are only mild and can be easily healed at home. Although they didn’t know exactly how or why this sweet girl was wandering the streets alone, they knew one thing for sure. It was clear that she had found her forever home.
Cibely decides to name her Pretinha, and she plans on giving her new furry best friend a lot of love.
“Cibely has a kind heart. She feels very sorry for the stray dogs. If she could bring them all home, she would. As parents, we are proud of Cibely and always have been. But now we are even more,” her mother said.
It may seem like a simple gesture, but lifting that tiny puppy definitely saved her life that day. The family couldn’t find the original owner, so the puppy was there to stay.
