“I’ll be the first to beat Mayweather.”
Many have said it, or so it seems. However, no one can best retire Floyd “Money” Mayweather, whether professionally or in a show. However, the largely unknown Don Moore uttered those exact words in the lead-up to his showpiece bout this weekend against Mayweather… going down to the helipad in Dubai (no one said Mayweather). not a performer). Although the former pound for the big pound is in his forties and clearly past his prime, even a win over Mayweather in the show would be a hair in anyone’s hat. any boxer—something Moore was well aware of.
“I’m going to be on Mayweather’s chest and it’s going to be head-to-head,” said Moore, whose last professional fight was in 2016. “This is an exhibition, but he trained hard, I practiced hard. We will give the fans a great battle, a great performance. It will be placed each toe in the center of the ring. Pure boxing. You will see similar styles. You will see ferocity from both boxers. This is unfinished business – Floyd knows I’m a problem and he can be beaten like any other boxer. I’m humble but I’m also a fighter, so this is a business not a personal one.”
Needless to say, Mayweather himself isn’t much of a boon for those who might criticize him for facing an opponent as obscure as Moore – or for anything else for that matter. “I was able to leave boxing on my own terms,” Mayweather said Mirror, “And now boxing critics are annoyed that I can still milk and train the sport of boxing by throwing exhibits.” With that in mind, it’s clear Mayweather is carefully choosing who he gets into the ring these days. His final battle was with the famous but inexperienced Logan Paul. However, Moore makes it clear that this is more than just a payoff for him, as he has worked with Mayweather before.
“I have the blueprint,” says Moore. “The coolest thing about it is that I was in the ring with him and I was in camp with him day in and day out. So understand ‘Dangerous’ Don Moore has what it takes to really win him over because I know his style. I know what will happen to me. I know how to adapt. I know how to adjust. I’m not Logan Paul, so you won’t be able to fight me like you fought him. I am a boxer. However he brought it, I will bring it right back to him. ”
Although the main attraction of the pay-per-view event, aside from Mayweather himself, may be the helipad atop the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, Moore promises action. “Don’t go without popcorn,” he said. “Don’t blink.”
