Former WBO middleweight player Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade made his supermiddleweight debut Saturday night at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. His opponent in the scheduled 10th round match is the virtually unknown Demond Nicholson. Andrade 31-0 hopes to impress to bring in some of the bigger names of his new division while Nicholson 26-4-1 hopes to shock the boxing world. Andrade darted forward like a rocket as the opening bell rang. Nicholson survives this quick attack, then tries to keep his distance from Andrade. Overall, though, the first season was something of a tumult, with Andrade wavering with ill intentions and Nicholson working to weather the initial storm.

Andrade worked to land cleanly both high and low in the second. A clumsy combination brought Nicholson down with just over a minute left in the game. Nicholson stood up, beat the count and looked no worse wearing it, but still couldn’t do much against the former middleweight player. The third match saw Andrade shoot hard and effectively from long range. Nicholson, who had claimed to be injured earlier in the round, simply couldn’t make it. The fourth proved to be more unsuccessful than Nicholson. Andrade’s punch of power rendered him ineffective.

Surprisingly Andrade was knocked down in the first minute of the fifth round, but it wasn’t a knockdown. Andrade got up and continued to fight well. However, by the sixth time, Andrade’s left eye showed signs of damage. With that said, Nicholson couldn’t stop Andrade from rolling out combinations pretty much at will. Furthermore, Andrade more or less made it easy in the seventh inning. Simply put – the man hits while basically not being hit. Suffice it to say, Nicholson hit the ball again late in the inning, but it wasn’t a knockdown.

By day eight, things had become so serious that the match turned into a duel for Andrade. After dominating ninth for the Rhode Islander, the two men hugged at the start of the tenth and final round. Andrade continued to throw powerful punches, but couldn’t seem to finish the performance (although he scored another lightning knock on Nicholson). Despite that – Andrade walked out of the ring after the final bell with a decisive victory widely on his résumé.
