Anime fans yearning for a new fantasy show have a new treat to nibble on. Studio Trigger, in total Kill la Kill and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners famous, being animated Delicious in the dungeon. The message is given after the trigger opens a Official website and Twitter account for the show. Fans can also read the news on a wraparound banner accompanying the manga’s 12th volume, which is on sale in Japan.
Also known as Dungeon Meshi, Delicious in the dungeon is a manga series created by Ryoko Kui. It follows a group of adventurers exploring the depths of a dungeon located on a remote island. Due to starvation due to the loss of supplies, the party is defeated by a giant red dragon. With one member trapped in the dragon’s belly and with no money to buy supplies on the surface, the party resorted to desperate measures. They choose to kill and eat the monsters in the dungeon itself to save money while returning to rescue their missing companion. Along the way, they meet new friends, make new enemies, and learn about the dungeon ecology, to boot.
So far, the only look at the new Delicious in the dungeon The anime series is a teaser artwork that shows the party members camping deep in a dungeon.
That being said, this isn’t Studio Trigger’s first brush with story. In 2019, Trigger animated commercials for the 9th episode of Delicious in the dungeon story. Check it out below, hosted by YouTube users Whole milk.
The Delicious in the dungeon anime is in development, with no specific release window. Yen Press publishes the manga in English. Indie game development team Dungeon Munchies was inspired by the manga, said a lot in an interview with Siliconera.
