Davis-Romero Pay Per View Card Preview

Showtime Pay Per View will present Gervonta Davis’ WBA lightweight title fight with Rolando Romero live Saturday night from Brooklyn’s Barclay Center. However, before the main event between the two inconclusive boxers, there are some interesting fights on the underside.
Erislandy Lara, a popular fighting game veteran who was once seen as a legitimate challenger to Floyd Mayweather, will defend his WBA middleweight against the colorful Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan. 39-year-old Lara showed that age really isn’t a number when he knocked out Thomas LaManna last May in the first round. For the mustached O’Sullivan, the Irishman’s final match was a decisive unanimous victory over Nodar Robakidze that same month. His fight with decorated Lara is scheduled for 12.
Rising 18-0 middleweight Jesus Ramos will also feature in Saturday’s final game, when he takes on Luke Santamaria 13-2-1 in a scheduled 10th round. Ramos was last seen knocking out Vladimir Hernanzdez in the first round last February while Santamaria last saw Abel Ramos take down Abel Ramos via unanimous decision on that February card. These are two young boxers looking to make their mark, so this bout could be interesting.
Finally, Luis Melendez 17-1 will be on the field on Saturday. The opponent of lightweight will be 26-2-3 Eduardo Ramirez. Melendez’s last game was last November when he was decisive Thomas Mattice on all three of the referee’s cards. Ramirez was last spotted in December when he won a unanimous decision against Miguel Marriaga.
The Davis-Romero Card will be broadcast live on Showtime Pay Per View starting at 9pm ET.
