Darlin, Mikey, Eli and other hungry shelter pets need our help on giving day

Good food is more than just a reason to gather around the holiday table. It can also make a life-changing difference for homeless animals, especially in a year when crowded shelters are scrambling to feed all the animals they care for. .

That’s why The Animal Rescue Site and Greater Good partnered with Wag! To help feed hungry animals on Tuesday, a global fundraiser was created to share the love with those in need.

In honor of GivingTuesday, we’re hosting a pet food drive to share 3 million meals with hungry shelter animals. See the transformation stories of homeless dogs and cats whose lives improved after they were fed nutritious food.

Can you donate $25 to help us provide healthy meals to hungry pets?

When Darlin was first rescued, the stray dog was severely emaciated and full of sores. But after a few months of eating healthy food provided by Greater Good’s Rescue Bank program, Darlin was transformed into a happy, healthy dog and learned to trust people again.

“After a few months of being cared for with the help of high quality food donated by Greater Good Charity, Darlin has turned beautiful and her adoptive mother has fallen in love with this sweet girl.” staff of the shelter said. “Darlin doesn’t take any time to trust people even though she has faced extreme neglect. Darlin is living proof of dog unconditional love.”

Providing free food for shelter pets also allows shelters and rescues to give more attention to sick or injured shelter animals that are often overlooked (or even death) when the shelter is too full.

That’s pretty much what happened to Eli, a dog who found himself in a crowded Tennessee shelter with a broken leg. Thankfully, Eli was saved in time by RRR, which received a healthy pet food grant from the Greater Good’s Rescue Bank program, allowing them to redirect their focus on saving stricken animals love.

But after foot surgery and nutritious food in foster care, Eli is on her way to recovery and adoption.

“He was a wonderful little guy with so much love to give,” said the rescuers, who nursed the injured dog back to health with food from his Rescue Bank program. Greater Good said. “By providing us with supplies and food, we can further fund the medical needs of dogs like Eli.”

Mikey

Mikey is another kitten that has been brought back to health after receiving medical care and access to healthy pet food.

Mikey was just 5 weeks old when a woman found the injured kitten on her porch. The tiny kitten was covered in scratches, with a puffy eye and a missing tooth – leading rescuers to conclude Mikey may have been thrown from a car.

Currently, Mikey is being restored to health by Cape Kitty Rescue, using high quality pet food provided by Greater Good Charity. In addition to helping Mikey heal, the donated pet food supply helped rescuers redirect their limited resources to rehabilitate the kitten.

“The rescue bank helps us a lot,” the rescuers said. “The money saved on food gives us the ability to get veterinary care for kittens like Mikey.”
