VW Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport recalled due to inadvertent deployment of airbags
NS Volkswagen Atlas 2021 and 2020-2021 Atlas Cross Sport being remember by a surprise air bag implementation problem. Total, VW are bringing in 54,429 vehicles. Among them, 35,449 are words map population and 18,980 is Atlas Cross Sports.
The problem stems from the fact that the drain hose of the air conditioner is not manufactured properly, causing them to become clogged. If a hose is clogged, water will leak inside the vehicle and come into contact with the airbag module. VW goes on to say that if water leaks into the control module, it can cause system malfunction, the worst of which is random airbag deployment. Yes, that means the airbag could deploy at any moment, if all the stars above align.
Volkswagen doesn’t say it will happen in all cases, but the airbag warning light may come on if a module failure is detected.
Volkswagen’s repair will involve inspecting the drain hose and fix of tubes if necessary – VW says they expect less first% of the population withdrawn will be affected. If hose repair is needed, VW will also replace the airbag control unit with a new one. As with any recall, all work will be done at no cost to the customer.
Document recall says you’ll be notified around January 14 if your Atlas is part of the subject of the recall.
