Danny Garcia debuts super Welterweight on July 30
Danny Garcia will end his 18-month break on July 30.
40order The 34-year-old’s career battle will take place Jose Benavidez Jr at Barclays Center, Brooklyn according to Mike Coppinger.
Facing Benavidez would mark Garcia’s start in the ultralightweight division after unifying the ultralight division in 2012 and adding the WBC welterweight title to his résumé four years later.
Philadelphia has a 6-2 record at Barclays and will be a strong contender against Benavidez.
Garcia’s opponent doesn’t quite have an all-star roster on his record but is the first defense for WBO weight champion Terence Crawford on the champion’s home turf. After a fiery match, Benavidez put ‘Bud’ into the final round before being knocked out, the only loss on his record to date.
Garcia last challenged Errol Spence Jr for the WBC Welterweight title but lost points in December 2020. Benavidez failed to impress against Francisco Emmanuel Torres last November and was only able to secure a majority draw. with a weight of 158lbs.
