Crash Bandicoot’s original voice actor has passed away
There was a sad discovery recently, with the information that American voice actor and performer Brendan O’Brien (also known as the original voice of Crash Bandicoot) passed away at the age of 60.
This message was forwarded by Antonblast game developer Tony Grayson on social media. ONE The eulogy was also posted onlinementions the time O’Brien spent voicing Crash Bandicoot:
“One of his proudest moments was creating the original voiceover for the video game ‘Crash Bandicoot’ during the Naughty Dog years from 1996 to 2004. He encourages nostalgic Crash fans. Pursuing their own hobbies and enjoying signing their memorabilia. His interest in music, character voice design for animation, radio and video games came naturally to him.”
As highlighted by Destructoid, O’Brien helped shape Crash’s character and personality during his early years with all sorts of great and eccentric sounds (including the famous “Woah”). His efforts helped turn Naughty Dog’s pirate into a household name as well known as some other video game mascots.
On behalf of the team and community at Nintendo Life, we extend our condolences to Brendan’s family, friends, and colleagues.
