Craig Idso on the Benefits of CO2: Summary

From main resource

By Robert Bradley Jr.

“For more than a quarter of a century I have storage some of my CO studies2 Science website about the amazing benefits the world is experiencing when CO2 of the air2 Its content continues to ascend. It will give you a whole new perspective on the many benefits of CO2 in the atmosphere2 enrich.”

Dr. Craig Idso, president of Center for Carbon Dioxide Research and Global Changewrote a series of posts last year at MasterResource about rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) benefits people and nature. These articles are linked and summarized below.

The many benefits of increasing CO2 in the atmosphere — Introduction (April 6, 2022)

“Atmosphere of carbon dioxide: you cannot see, hear, smell or taste it. But it’s there – all around us – and it’s so important to life…. Ironically, too many people disregard and mislabel this important atmospheric trace gas as a pollutant. Nothing could be better than the truth. Instead of being shunned like the plague, the continued increase of CO2 should be welcome with open arms.”

Increasing plant productivity: The first major benefit of atmospheric CO2 enrichment (April 21, 2022)

“Based on many of the experiments listed there, I can tell you that, typically, the rise in CO2 in the air is 300 ppm.2 content … will raise the yield of most herbaceous plants by about a third, this stimulation is usually manifested by an increase in the number of branches and branches, more and denser leaves, root system more growth, more flowers and more fruit.”

CO2 enrichment improves plant water efficiency (May 20, 2022)

“Basically, plant water efficiency is the amount of biomass produced by plants per unit of water lost to transpiration…. Most plants increase their water efficiency by 70 to 100%—or more—to double the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere2 (see and read reviews of many peer-reviewed studies under the subheading Water Efficiency This about me CO . gas2 Science website).

Increased CO2 and enhanced botanical medicinal properties (June 9, 2022)

“… increase CO2 significantly increased the production of carbohydrates, proteins, fats and crude fiber in caraway, as well as organic acids and amino acids, regardless of growth stage (growing or mature). CO2 is higher2 also enhanced the content of phytonutrients, vitamins and phenolics, as well as antioxidant and antimicrobial activities.”

CO2: Ozone removal for plant productivity (June 28, 2022)

“Tropospheric ozone (O3) is a gaseous air pollutant resulting from incomplete combustion of fossil fuels. It negatively affects the growth of plants…. However, the situation may not be as bad as it seems, especially when positive Effect of CO2 in the atmosphere2 enrichment on the growth and yield of the crop is taken into account, where typically decrease or completely denied damage to plant cells from ozone.”

Elevated CO2 reduces temperature stress in plants (July 20, 2022)

“So when the next summer heat wave comes with all the negative stories surrounding CO2 is the cause of it, I hope you will remember this post and the many scientific studies that prove an increase in CO2 levels that help plants better tolerate and recover from heat-induced stresses. And when you remember this, share it with others!

Ocean Acidification Cut Size (August 22, 2022)

“However, concerns about ocean acidification and warming have been overstated and generally far removed from reality. In almost all cases, the magnitude of the predicted damage is overstated due to the inappropriate scenario input using the most extreme scenarios for future seawater temperature and pH. Furthermore, their predictions do not take into account the adaptive and adaptive capacity of species, both within and between generations.”

Current and increasing atmospheric CO2 concentrations do not pose a threat to human health (October 3, 2022)

“Atmospheric CO2 does not pose, nor will it ever pose, a direct threat to your health or cognitive performance. CO . gas2 level will need to increase some 36 times higher than current concentrations before they even begin to pose a mild health concern.”

The dangers of low levels of CO2 in the atmosphere (November 1, 2022)

“CO2 literally ‘food’ sustains essentially all plants (and herbivores, including humans) on the Earth’s surface. And as that food supply dwindles, nature begins to diminish.”
