Health Minister Sajid Javid, has said that people do not need to change their Christmas plans, despite concerns about the new Covid variant, omicron.
The head of the UK’s Health Security Agency, Dr Jenny Harries, suggested on Tuesday that a bit of social distancing could slow the spread of the virus.
Mr Javid said the government needed to take “a balanced and proportionate approach” and he thought “the guidance we have is the right one”.
