Couple Caught Doing It On Top Of A New York Subway Car, And Apparently That’s Wrong?

New York City’s subway system is far from perfect, but as we objectively proved, it’s still the fastest, most convenient way to get around Manhattan. And, I mean, who doesn’t love trains? They’re so romantic. Don’t believe me? Just ask the guys who were allegedly caught having sex on top of the 7 Line last Friday.

Twitter user Jonathan Eli posted what he claims are two photos of a couple of subway surfers getting it on at 1:30 PM last Friday. Just so taken by the romance of train travel that they couldn’t resist making love in the middle of the day. If there’s one thing Jalopnik loves, it’s love, but apparently that’s not the case for everyone. For some reason, Eli made it out to be a bad thing, tagging the Metropolitan Transportation Authority along with several news outlets demanding to know what was going to be done about it.

While the MTA only responded to the tweet asking Eli to send them a direct message, communications director Tim Minton told The City, “The only thing dumber than riding on top of a subway train is dropping pants in the process. Those reckless clowns aren’t thinking about the mess cleaners and other subway workers will have to deal with when their stupid stunt goes tragically wrong.”

Well, I mean, when you put it that way, it does sound kind of bad, Tim. On the other hand, think of all the subway surfers who don’t die horrible deaths risking their lives for the thrill of a free ride. Also, it’s really not the main point here, but we highly doubt that having pants on would make much of a difference if they actually had fallen off the train. As everyone who has crashed a motorcycle wearing jeans can tell you, jeans aren’t safety equipment.

In all seriousness, though, you really, really shouldn’t try subway surfing whether you plan to go balls deep in your lover or not. According to the MTA, six people died last year, and as The City pointed out, just last month, a 14-year-old child died while subway surfing in Brooklyn. If you can’t afford your fare, it’s much less dangerous to simply jump the turnstile like everyone else.
