Conor Benn has had his say on the activities of the Eubank family as his fight with Chris Eubank Jr draws near – and he thinks it’s weird.
Back when this fight – a fight between the sons of two former rivals against each other – was announced, it was easy to assume that the build was pre-written…

Instead, what we had was a lot of difference. First, Eubank Jr has said that he will only perform at 60% in the evening. He poked fun at the 157lb weight class by pose with snacks anytime, anywhereand let Benn know how long he intends to stay single to prepare for the war.
Add to that the fact that Eubank Sr, a big part of the hype of all, don’t even want the fight to continue, and it’s one of the more interesting pre-combat periods we’ve had in a while.
Talk to Boxing Social, Conor Benn, who has been quietly training while all of the above continues, says what they do makes no difference to him.
“It really makes no difference… I’m sure the general public didn’t expect anything more. They are just what they are. From the very first days of Junior’s career with Eubank Sr, he just stood there staring at his son in the corner, like ever since. It’s just a weird dynamic – but that’s them and that’s the whole point of them.
I think maybe because Eubank Jr was beaten by Billy Joe [Saunders.] Billy Joe had it in mind so now Eubank is trying to do the same tactic, but he’s just making himself look silly. “
While the playful approach from Eubank Jr is interesting, Benn is right in assuming that all that will matter soon is what the two men can do in the ring.
