Ryan Garcia and Eddy Reynoso seems to be a match made in boxing Heaven.
After Garcia’s decisive majority win over Carlos Morales in 2018, California residents are looking for a new life. While he was grateful to extend his unbeaten run, Garcia was mostly disappointed in his performance.
In an effort to improve, Garcia turned to Reynoso for guidance. As a parallel, they will continue to blow up the competition. In addition to becoming a deadly puncher, Garcia had the most impressive victory of his career, which was a seventh stoppage-time win over Luke Campbell in January 2021. Soon, Reynoso beamed with joy. happy, even going as far as to say that Garcia won Campbell as the most gratifying person of his career.
Garcia’s momentum eventually passed as he was sidelined for the rest of the year due to a combination of mental health rehabilitation and right wrist surgery. During his time away from the ring, Reynoso’s star pupil Canelo Alvarez chastised Garcia and openly questioned his work ethic.
Although Garcia recently decided to leave Reynoso’s stables to join forces with coach Joe Goossen, the 23-year-old insists there was a lack of one-on-one care during their friendly farewell, nothing else.
“It has nothing to do with bad blood, ego or any unpleasant feelings,” Garcia said in a self-recorded video. “It’s just a matter of time, know that Eddy is very busy and I respect that.”
Regardless of what goes on behind the scenes, Garcia holds no malice against the multiple-time Coach of the Year award winner.
Next up for the young star, is a date with fellow lightweight, Emmanuel Tagoe. Both are scheduled to officially end on April 9, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
While he’s considered a sizable favorite, considering how much Garcia wants to achieve in his boxing career, he refuses to drop the ball in his comeback bout.
“You can’t look down on a boxer. This will be a good fight. We will continue. One world title, all belts on one day. ”
