Live update of the opening ceremony of CWG 2022: The opening ceremony of the 22nd Commonwealth Games began here on Thursday to great fanfare and in front of around 30,000 spectators, showcasing the best of Birmingham and the UK as a whole . Drummer-percussionist Abraham Paddy Tetteh kicks things off at Alexander Stadium, followed by Indian classical vocalist and composer Ranjana Ghatak, which showcases the city’s diversity. The Olympics, set to be the biggest and most expensive sporting event in the UK since the 2012 London Olympics, have had to deal with the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The opening ceremony was attended by Prince Charles as the main guest. Queen’s Baton arrived at Games village in Birmingham on Wednesday, July 27. The entire opening ceremony, expected to last around two and a half hours, has been created by British screenwriter Steven Knight, who has been produced the hit crime movie ‘Peaky Blinders. ‘. Speaking of CWG, athletes from more than 72 countries and regions entered the multi-sport event. Meanwhile, India won 66 medals in the previous Commonwealth Games held on the Gold Coast, Australia.
