“Remains of Antarctica”: Limited edition book available


In February 2023, the Antarctic Climate Expedition (ACE) saw a group of 120 unique individuals—artists, musicians, photographers, writers, activists, planners policy makers, scientists, politicians, etc.—embark on a journey to the world’s southernmost continent. Their mission: to raise awareness about the changes taking place in Antarctica due to climate change using photography, video, music, paintings, art, science and educational outreach programs sex.

One project that came out of that effort is a new book The ruins of AntarcticaA limited edition is now available from Australian publisher OceanENvironment Ltd. The full-color, 168-page book is produced by Ocean Geographic publisher Michael Aw and features a foreword by Dr. Sylia Earle, founder of Mission Blue, who serves as Ocean Geographic’s lead partner at the ACE 2023. In addition to Michael Aw, key photographers contributing images to the book include David Doubilet, Jennifer Hayes, Michael Aw, Eirik Grønningsæter, Elaine Lim, Nur Tucker, Renee Capozzola and Lezlie Brooks Johnson.

This volume features the best picks culled from more than 8,000 submissions collected by 120 expedition members, highlighting the exquisite and awe-inspiring wonders of Antarctica.

The ACE expedition team has meticulously documented the area, revealing the dramatic transformation it has undergone since Shackleton’s time, and that over the next decade it will face even more dramatic change.
