Denver Nuggets trades JaMychal Green with Oklahoma City Thunder for first draft
The Denver Nuggets is trading forward JaMychal Green and the 2027 first round selection is protected for Oklahoma City Thunder for the 30th pick in this month’s NBA draft and two future picks, sources told ESPN on Monday.
Thunder still has #2, 12, and 34 picks in this year’s draft, and the Nuggets now have Numbers 21 and 30.
Oklahoma City will send Denver second-round picks in 2023 and 2024, sources said.
Green is expected to pick up his $8.2 million salary for the 2022-2023 season this month, eventually finalizing the deal, sources said.
In the new general manager’s first deal, Calvin Booth has overseen the Nuggets’ basketball operations since chairman Tim Connelly’s departure. MinnesotaDenver created some salary cap flexibility with this deal, saving it $20 million in wages and luxury taxes with the deal. Denver still expects to be the luxury taxpayer team for next year, and now gives it the flexibility to use the $6.4 million median taxpayer exception or an 8 commercial exception. $2 million generated with this deal.
Thunder has $31.6 million in salary cap to hit Green’s contract. Green, 31, averaged 6.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in 16 minutes for the Nuggets this past season. The 2022-23 season will be Green’s 10th season in the NBA.
