Cocaine worth $44 million found in onion rings cargo at UK border
Border Drive officers noticed the 922-pound (418 kg) cargo on Thursday night after halting a lorry, which was headed to the UK, based on the nation’s Nationwide Crime Company (NCA).
Piotr Perzenowski, 30, has since been charged with smuggling the cargo, and appeared at Kent’s Folkestone Magistrates’ Courtroom on Saturday morning.
“This was a very important quantity of medicine taken out of circulation,” NCA’s department commander Mark Howes stated.
“The seizure will deprive the organised crime group answerable for them of revenue which might have fuelled extra offending,” Howes added.
“Working with our companions resembling Border Drive we’ll proceed to combat the Class A medicine risk in our mission to guard the general public,” Howes stated.
Perzenowski has been remanded, and is scheduled to look at Canterbury Crown Courtroom on December 13.
