The sad truth is that free upgrades are rare. The days of a surprise upgrade from your cozy interior cabin to a spacious balcony room are almost over.
Today, cruise lines expect you to pay for your cruise ship cabin upgrades. Free upgradewhen offered, is almost never as good as the acoustics and is often room-to-room in the same type of cabin.

You cannot choose your cabin location
Upgrading is basically like ordering a guaranteed cabin – a room type where your cabin type is guaranteed, but your particular room location is not. You agree to let the cruise line choose your cabin in exchange for a discount on that room. You give up control of where your cabin is located on the ship.

It’s so expensive
Not all cruise cabin upgrades are free. Usually, cruise lines offer a discount on upgrades, which means you’ll pay less for an upgraded room than it costs to book immediately, but more than what you paid for your original cabin. me.

Upgrading isn’t good enough
