According to Pew Research, More people than ever are worried about climate change – but there is a stark left/right political divide over levels of concern.

Climate change continues to be the top global threat in a survey of 19 countries

With the COVID-19 pandemic still raging, a hot war between Russia and Ukraine is underway, inflation rate rising globally and heat records are being broken all over the world, countries are facing many challenges in 2022. Among the many threats facing the globe, climate change stands out. emerged as a particularly strong concern among people in advanced economies, according to the new Pew Research Center survey. An average of 75% of the 19 countries in North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region consider global climate change to be a major threat.

Concerns about climate, misinformation and cyberattacks prevail across 19 countries, but people are also concerned about the global economy and the spread of infectious diseases.

Concern about global warming is relatively low in Malaysia and Israel, where about half or less consider it a major threat. In the US, 54% of people say climate change is a major threat, which is the lowest rating of the five threats examined. Political divisions on this question play a role in the way Americans judge climate change: 78% of Democrats and those leaning toward Democrats say climate change is a threat. big threat, compared with only 23% of Republicans and Republicans. Political divisions over climate change are not restricted to the United States. In Australia, for example, 91% of those who place themselves on the left side of the political spectrum say climate change is a major threat, compared with just 47% of those on the right.

Despite these political divisions, concerns about climate change have increased in recent years, as people react to the extremes the climate is inflicting on their country. For example, three-quarters of Britons say climate change is a major threat to their country by 2022. In 2013, just 48 percent said the same. According to Pew, the public is also concerned about “misinformation” online:
“…The spread of disinformation online and cyber attacks from other countries are the second and third biggest concerns overall among the issues examined. An average of 70% of the 19 countries surveyed consider the spread of misinformation online as the top threat, with around a quarter (24%) saying it is a minor threat and 5% claiming it is a minor threat. Disinformation is not a threat. Similarly, 67% consider cyberattacks a major threat, with a quarter saying they are a minor threat and 4% saying they are not. …”
This misinformation concern may explain growing leftist Obama backs US internet censorship effortsand outrageous censorship demands submitted by the Australian Academy of Sciences. In my opinion, both Obama’s push for censorship and the Australian Academy of Sciences’ submission are blatant attempts to criminalize criticism of their reporting, and silence radio stations. right-wing television.
The higher level of interest among young people is notable. Even young people with right-wing views are more concerned about climate change. The growing concern among young people across the political spectrum, in my opinion, is evidence that the left is pushing for decades to take over government schools and convert them into cotton balls. Blue hydrangeas are bearing fruit.
Sadly, I believe this situation, the climate concerns and the censorship push, will get worse before it gets better. Several times in previous posts, I have expressed hope we have reached a fork, but if Pew is right, we still have a long way to go.
Europe and the UK are, by far, the leaders when it comes to climate madness, but despite ongoing economic problems and energy bill pain, they cling to their faith. your green news like never before. The coming winter of industrial shutdowns and power outages will likely test their resolve a bit, but I’m starting to believe it will take more than a winter of climate policy disaster to unleash them from decades of green propaganda.
I mean, just look at California, if you want a preview of what’s happening in the UK and Europe. How much economic pain will most California politicians suffer from abandoning their commitment to climate action?
Did Pew Underestimate Climate Skepticism? Many climate skeptics I know don’t respond to surveys or give misleading answers, because they don’t want to be terrorized by politicized government agencies or target the workplace of greens.
Over the next decade, I guess we’ll probably find out the answers to these questions.
