Churchill pushes back June 22 Posting time Starts to 10:30 am
The first race for the nine-race program on June 22 at Churchill Downs was changed from 12:45 p.m. to 10:30 a.m. (ET) with predicted hot temperatures in the Louisville area later that day. The last race of the day will now be 2:20pm
Additionally, Wednesday morning training hours at Churchill Downs have been changed to 5:00 – 8:00 am with a repair break at 6:30 am
Entrance will open on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. Post times for the race action on Wednesday are as follows:
- Race 1: 10:30 a.m. – $52,000 required, 7 tongs
- Race 2:10:58 a.m. – $50,000 first claim, miles
- Race 3: 11:26 a.m. – $54,000 first claim, 1 1/8 mile
- Race 4: 11:56 am – $60,000 claim, 7 hooks
- Race 5: 12:26 pm – Claim $31,000, 1 1/16 mile
- Race 6: 12:55pm – first claim $58,000, 5 feather clips
- Race 7: 1:23 pm – $30,000 first time claim, 6 1/2 furs
- Race 8: 1:51 pm – claim $62,000, 6 furs
- 9:2:20 p.m. race – $66,000 in beginner’s allowance, 6 stretches
The National Weather Service’s early forecast for Louisville on Wednesday said it was sunny and hot with highs nearing 98 degrees and a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m.
Last week, two race days — Wednesday and Thursday — were lost because of the extreme heat.
Any decision to cancel or change timings during inclement weather is made in consultation with CDI Equine Medical Director, track management and regulatory officials. . Many factors, including temperature, humidity and wind speed, are evaluated to ensure the safety and health of humans and jockeys.
