Chris Eubank Jr Promoter Claims Conor Benn Fight Rumors Are “Wild Speculation”
According to Kalle Sauerland, all rumors about a fight happening between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr are “fantasy speculation”.
As of January 2021 Sauerland has been promoted to Eubank Jr and the 32-year-old has won three of his three games against Marcus Morrison, Wanik Awdijan and most recently against Liam Williams.
The 32-year-old middleweight was involved in a bout with former WBO superweight welterweight champion Liam Smith. Liverpudlian, like Eubank Jr, will now fight on Sky Sports later Smith signed a promotional agreement with Boxxer last week.
Last week in battle week Dereck Chisora-Kubrat Pulev Talksport revealed that ‘negotiations are underway’ for Benn and Eubank Jr to continue the rivalry their father set in motion in the 1990s.
Eddie Hearn, Benn’s promoter has quashed the rumors tell Ayman Khan of Social,
“It’s not one of those battles that we’re ending.”
But one member of the media refused to be removed. In an appearance on Talksport a few days ago, combat sports journalist Gareth A. Davies says:
“This fight has been going on for quite a while and hopefully will happen this fall.”
“I’m happy to say that this fight is on.”
Boxing Social today reached out to Sauerland for comment on the situation of Benn-Eubank Jr.
“Fantastic speculation.”
“We are discussing two wars and Eubank v Benn is of course huge but not in the discussions that I am in at the moment.”
As for Benn’s future, a big fight seems to be on the way for the undefeated Welterweight this fall and main target is former WBA Welterweight champion Keith Thurman.
