Chopard adds a 44mm two-tone chronograph to its high-flying Alpine Eagle collection and for a collection launch it attached the watch to a leather strap.

Like all Alpine Eagle models, the dial here retains a radiant motif intended to evoke the iris of an eagle. But the darker version visible on this new edition is an allusion to “the intense blackness of mountain nights when wildlife reclaims its rights,” according to Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, Co-President of Chopard and the creator of the collection.
New maintained chronograph collectThe configuration is quite sleek, which here means that the chronograph pushers are integrated on either side of a protective shield adjacent to the crown.
Easy-to-read dial. Its black counters for the 30 minutes, small seconds and 12 o’clock indexes are very well laid out. For average tachometers, the tachometer is clearly graduated and the chronograph seconds hand is highlighted in red.
Beneath the dial of the new Alpine Eagle XL Chrono model, Chopard matches its superb 03.05-C flyback chronograph movement with column wheel and vertical clutch, an in-house design featuring COSC certified operation. -chronometer and three patents. (See specs below for patent details).

As noted earlier, this is new Alpine Eagle XL Chrono is the collection’s first mass-produced watch with a black calfskin strap. Previously, only the Alpine Eagle XL Chrono created for the recent Only Watch charity auction had a leather strap. Here, the strap features hints of red bridle stitching to complement the red accents of the dial.
