Chevrolet Blazer EV 2024 revealed with rival Tesla Model Y


Chevrolet revealed 2024 Blazer EVThe company’s first electric vehicle bore the SS badge and offered a chase-rated variant for the police.

The range-leading SS offers a claimed 467 km range and is available only with dual-engine full-time four-wheel drive.

Chevrolet did not specify the cycle on which these range estimates are based.

The Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) is based on the SS, but will be offered with both dual full-time four-wheel drive and single-engine rear-wheel drive and will feature an interior designed to accommodate normally bulky equipment. of police officers.

The 2LT and RS will go on sale first in the northern summer of 2023, with prices from US$47,595 (AU$70,094).

This is followed by the SS in late 2023, with prices from US$65,995 (AU$96,367), followed by the PPV police model and US$44,995 (AU$64,534) 1LT in the first quarter of 2024 .

Based on GM’s Ultium platform, the Blazer EV has the long wheelbase and tight overhangs expected of a dedicated electric vehicle but with a host of styling cues designed to give it a family resemblance to the existing Blazer crossover, itself inspired inside and out by Camaro.

All models are capable of up to 190kW DC fast charging and have an onboard 11.5kW AC charger, while GM also includes access to Ultium Charge 360, giving owners access to over 100,000 Public charging points throughout the United States and Canada.

The Blazer EV has regenerative braking levels including a single-pedal driving mode.

Chevrolet has so far only released power and torque figures for the range-topping SS, which will produce up to 415kW of power and 878Nm of torque when in Wide Open Watts (WOW) mode.

When in WOW mode, the Blazer EV SS’s 0-60mph (0-96km/h) time is under four seconds.

The SS also has a unique suspension, black hood, 22-inch alloy wheels and Brembo front brakes.

The RS wheel is ‘just slightly smaller at 21 inches, and it shares the same full-width front light bar and SS illuminated bow-shaped logo’.

Both have their own unique grille design, each more reminiscent of an internal combustion engine vehicle than the LT models with the same body-color grille area.

While all models have LED lighting, the RS and SS have compiled lighting sequences.

The front lights also show the charging status while the vehicle is charging.

Inside, the Blazer EV has a standard 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 11-inch digital instrument cluster.

RS and SS models get a hands-free power tailgate, heated and ventilated front seats, color-adjustable ambient lighting, blue or red contrast stitching and a heated flat-bottom steering wheel, with The SS also had outside heated rear seats and was sued with microfibre fabric.

There is no start button, the car will turn on when you press the brake pedal after closing the door.

The Blazer EV features GM’s new Ultifi11 software platform, which supports over-the-air updates and downloadable apps and features.

Safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, reverse AEB and lane-keeping assist.

The Blazer EV will also offer semi-autonomous parking assistance plus GM’s Super Cruise Level 2 autonomous driving feature, which offers hands-free driving assistance on compatible roads across the US and Canada.

Blazer EV will be one of a trio of new electric vehicles from Chevrolet to launch next year, along with more affordable prices Equinox EV intersection and Silverado EV pickup truck.

General Motors is rolling out a range of dedicated electric vehicles across its Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC brands, starting with the Ultium-based lineup. GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq.
