Records are meant to be broken, even if you’re the one who set them up.
On Thursday, Mercedes-Benz announced Concept electric car Vision EQXX broke its own mileage record after driving 746 miles on a single charge.
The trip saw the EQXX drive from Stuttgart, Germany to the Silverstone track in the UK, and finished the final lap with the car’s top speed of 87 mph.

The British track with driver Nyck de Vries, the Dutchman racing for the Mercedes-Benz EQ Formula E team, ran out of track after using the last of EQXX’s kicks during 11 laps.
Mercedes says the EQXX’s performance during the trip is 8.3 kWh over 62 miles. That’s better than the first run average of 8.7 kWh over 62 miles.
The first distance record set by EQXX on a single charge, is 626 miles in Aprilconducted in 37.4 to 64 degrees Fahrenheit weather. This latest run was much warmer with temperatures reaching 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

EQXX is a concept of extreme performance with a drag coefficient of 0.17. It is powered by a battery pack under 100 kWh, which Mercedes has said is half the size and 30% lighter than the one used. in EQSwith a 20% increase in cellular energy density.
Mercedes has used the experience and knowledge gained in F1 racing to deliver a claimed 95% battery-to-tire efficiency.
