Chery says it has overcome one of our main criticisms of its new feature omoda 5 crossover by updating the performance of active safety and driver assistance features.
A Chery Australia spokesperson said: “In the latest update to the ADAS system, we have introduced a series of enhancements that optimize the system’s logic to improve its adaptability to Australian conditions.
“These improvements were applied to all vehicles prior to sale.”
Spokesperson confirmed all omoda 5 Vehicles delivered in Australia have received the update.
The spokesperson added: “An important update involves the removal of device notification beeps that are triggered whenever the system detects a change in state, such as lane detection or failure.
Chery claims: “This modification has significantly improved the overall driver experience. “In addition, we have made improvements to optimize the logic of the system, ensuring better adaptability to Australian conditions,” they added.

The first car to be launched as part of a local revival, the Chery is now distributed by the factory rather than a third-party distributor.
The Omoda 5 range will expand later this year with a more powerful turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder, available with front- or all-wheel drive, and offering a multi-link rear suspension instead of a torsion beam setup. An electric version will also launch next year.
Chery will also introduce the larger (but still small) Tiggo 7 Pro SUV in 2023, as well as the Tiggo 8 Pro mid-size SUV.
