Chase Young Trauma Update: Washington Passer Rejects Cargo, Brings Scary ACL

The Washington football team had to take down Montez Sweat in Week 10 because of a broken jaw. On Sunday, they suffered another crucial injury at the defensive end.

Chase Young picked up the injury after a routine game near Washington’s end. He is trying to put pressure on Tom Brady while Donovan Smith tackles his ball.

THAN: Why the Raiders 2020 draft class was a huge hit

Young was only caught by Smith when he fell to the ground. His knee bends awkwardly, without contact, and Young is writhing in pain after the game.

It looks like Young will have a hard time playing in the match. So Washington called the trolley to take him to the locker room.

However, Young refused to use the stroller. Instead, he chose to limp into the dressing room with help from Washington staffers.

It’s not clear why Young chose not to ride the cart. He was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game with a knee injury, and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports he may have torn his ACL at the end of the season.

That would be a blow to Washington’s defense in the long term. Young has only been sacked 1.5 times during the season, but he has put a lot of pressure on opposition defenders during the season.

THAN: Why didn’t Cam Newton start for the Panthers

In the short term, both Young and Sweat have to face the Buccaneers, so Washington will have to rely heavily on his defensive depth to create a passing pass against Tom Brady. Casey Toohill and James Smith-Williams will likely play the majority of snaps while Bunmi Rotimi and Shaka Toney will alternate.
