I lost my beloved pet cat Namir to feline infectious peritonitis a few months ago. That means I’m a one-cat house, which is unacceptable. But I waited until the right time. Last week was the right time, and I decided to buy a rescue cat.
I went to a local no-kill rescue shelter and almost immediately fell in love with my Izzy-Belle. Her back story is horrible. She was left in the freezing cold and found herself literally frozen in a cement porch for days. When she was finally rescued, she lost one side of her hair and skin to frostbite, eventually both of her ear tips fell off, and she essentially lost the use of her hind legs due to frostbite. a position for a long time.
The rescue shelter took her in, monitored her microchip (the previous owners refused to take her home!), and began the long and arduous road to rehabilitation. They have to change the bandages every day. Remember, this is a rescue shelter – this is an expensive procedure. This shelter is a great sanctuary for many lost kittens.
When I got to the shelter, I was cutely introduced to the many available cats, but I kept coming back to my pet cat. She arrived when she was called, and was wearing a vibrant red fur collar. I can’t say no.
Izzy has made a full recovery (although her earlobes have yet to grow back, that gives her a sweet, quirky look!). She ran around my house like a crazy cat, slept with me all night, and gave my other kitten, Titus Andronicus, his money!
