Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol faced off yesterday at the May 7 game launch press conference in Las Vegas.
The undisputed super-middleweight champion will increase the weight division to 175lbs for the second time in his career to challenge the talented Russian for his WBA light-heavyweight title.
“I love challenges, it makes me feel alive,” said Canelo, who has collaborated with promoter Eddie Hearn and DAZN.
“I like a good challenge and now I have a very good fighter ahead of me and I am very excited for this fight.
“Bivol is a really tough fighter and it will be a really good match for Cinco De Mayo over the weekend with my guys in Las Vegas – Mexico over the weekend. I’m really excited and I’m going to prepare really well because this fight is going to be really tough.”
The fight will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Vegas. A venue that has hosted five of Canelo’s thirteen matches in Sin City.
Unbeatable in 19 begins Bivol has fought in America several times, but this will be his first time in the battle capital of the world.
“Me and my team wanted this fight and I am very happy that this fight will be in the United States and is one of the Meccas of boxing.
