Canelo describes May 7’s fight against Bivol as “Really tough”


Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol faced off yesterday at the May 7 game launch press conference in Las Vegas.

The undisputed super-middleweight champion will increase the weight division to 175lbs for the second time in his career to challenge the talented Russian for his WBA light-heavyweight title.

“I love challenges, it makes me feel alive,” said Canelo, who has collaborated with promoter Eddie Hearn and DAZN.

“I like a good challenge and now I have a very good fighter ahead of me and I am very excited for this fight.

“Bivol is a really tough fighter and it will be a really good match for Cinco De Mayo over the weekend with my guys in Las Vegas – Mexico over the weekend. I’m really excited and I’m going to prepare really well because this fight is going to be really tough.”

The fight will be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Vegas. A venue that has hosted five of Canelo’s thirteen matches in Sin City.
