Cancer survivor may be the longest-living dog after her recent birthday
A small dog named Lady Bug may be the oldest living dog in the world. Despite being a rescued person, she has some records from her past life. Her person, Mary Jo Hughes, says the dog was recently 23 or 24 years old.
Lady Bug has a special birthday celebration with her birthday hat and cake. Now that she’s reached such an impressive age, her vets are scrutinizing her records to see if they can prove she’s the oldest dog in the world. are not. This information could lead her to take the place of the current Guinness world record holder.
The battle for the oldest living dog
The Guinness World Record for the longest living dog has changed several times over the past year. First, a 21-year-old Chihuahua named TobyKeith recorded. Then, after watching TobyKeith’s story, a family realized that the Toy Fox Terrier their name Pebble older than at 22 years old. So Pebbles held the record until her death a few months later.
Now, a 22 year old dog Gino currently holds the title, but Hughes believes Lady Bug is older. According to the Guinness World Records, Gino’s birthday is September 2000. However, Lady Bug’s birthday is January 2000, making her older. However, there is different information in different veterinarians, so Hughes needed to find the correct documentation before looking for the world record.
However, publicity was not the most important thing on Hughes’ mind at the moment. She’s glad Lady Bug has lived this long and she hopes to get as many years as possible with her, regardless of whether that’s a record or not. So she threw Lady Bug a fun birthday party at the vet clinic with all of the puppy’s canine friends around.
“What a good thing to go into this afternoon. We just love celebrating with her and we’re so glad she’s still here with us at 23,” said Nicole Blithe, one of the vets.
Lady Bug’s Full Life
Even if Lady Bug doesn’t win the world record title, she definitely deserves it. This little dog has been through a lot in her life. Hughes adopted the puppy more than a decade ago after it was abandoned at a dog care clinic. At that time, Lady Bug had a rough figure.
Hughes said: “Finding breast cancer, nine teeth that needed to be removed and bladder stones, so Lady Bug really survived the mishaps.
Despite all those health concerns, Lady Bug has lived an interesting life ever since. Her family jokingly calls her a “trash dog” because no matter how often they brush her, her coat always looks disheveled as if she stepped out of a trash can. But her human likes her quirky looks.
Now, Lady Bug’s vets are re-checking her records to confirm her date of birth. If all goes well, Hughes will likely win the oldest living dog award. But even if that doesn’t happen, Lady Bug is still an incredible dog who has lived a life of love and luxury since being rescued.
