Cam Dunker Breaks Through To Win First Supersport

ASBK 2023

Round Two – Sydney Motorsport Park

Michelin Supersport Second race

Jake Farnsworth ran Sean Condon pretty hard in Supersport opening match but Condon tried to secure victory.

Things got complicated before the second and final race of the weekend was a drizzle that lasted all over the lap an hour before the start of the second race.

The drizzle, stopped and started, led to the second and final 11-round Supersport match of the weekend. By the time the riders make their nets, the surface is a little like this and a little like that, a little wet, a little damp in other places and mostly dry in other areas…

Jake Farnsworth was ejected from the net and was unable to start the race from the net. After that delay, the lights went out and Ty Lynch scored a goal to lead the court through the first leg and the South Australian immediately began to take the lead.

At the end of the opening round, Lynch led Olly Simpson by 1.2 seconds. Cam Dunker is in third, Passfield in fourth, Sanders in fifth.

Lynch, Simpson and Dunker left the field in the second round. That trio ended in the second round, with Simpson trailing Lynch, and Dunker trailing on their heels.

Simpson took the lead at the start of the third round and started to trail Lynch. Polesitter Sean Condon dropped to 19th on the slide… In contrast, the front riders were wet, or at least a combination of wet at one end and ball at the other.

Cam Dunker took second place ahead of Lynch and then easily took the lead. With seven laps remaining, Simpson is four-tenths ahead of Dunker and Lynch is now five seconds behind. The leading duo were probably both wet and just two laps later they were more than ten seconds ahead of Lynch.

With four laps to run, Sean Condon was eliminated in the sixth round. Defending champion John Lytras is tenth at the moment. Tom Bramich was 15th. The man on the move was Jonathan Nahlous, who in lap seven set up the fastest new lap after overtaking Luke Durning and then closing in on Dallas Skeer and Scott Nicholson.

Jack Passfield dropped Ty Lynch to fourth, the South Australian struggled with a steering damper caught in his triple clamp after switching to a spare and only discovered the problem on the starting lap. motion.

Up ahead, Dunker was watching Simpson round after round… Waiting for his moment…

Simpson then ran wide on turn one as they started the penultimate lap, having to save a slide ahead opened the door for Dunker to pass right through and lead the race.

Simpson lost almost seven tenths to Dunker but immediately began to regain that spot, Simpson losing four tenths in the final game.

However, Dunker responded, stretching it to 7/10 on the first split, 9/10 on the second split. second event in class.

A smooth shot of the ball Scott Nicholson hit hard late in the game to finish on the podium, despite being nearly 20 seconds behind Dunker.

Nicholson beat Jonathan Nahlous in fourth, Hayden Nelson in fifth, Dallas Skeer in sixth in slip, and Jack Passfield was painfully pushed back to seventh on the final lap. Ty Lynch is eighth ahead of John Lytras while Luca Durning makes the top 10.
