Brave woman endures the cold to rescue someone’s rabbit that fell behind her Montana apartment
Rabbits are the third most neglected pet in the United States. While some had to surrender to shelters, others were simply dumped outside to fend for themselves.
However, pet rabbits don’t stand a chance in the wild because they lack basic survival skills.
Alicia Castro came across an abandoned rabbit and spent countless hours catching it.
The adorable black and white rabbit was discovered in the back of her Montana apartment. After doing a little research, she discovered that the rabbit had been dumped not once, but twice.
She went out with a carrot in her hand and patiently waited for him to approach and nibble on the delicious treat. She talks to the scared rabbit and tries to gain his trust. But after spending days in the cold outside and failing to capture him successfully, she devised a new plan.
She bought a big box and filled it with vegetables. The rabbit jumped in and was finally safe.
Castro shared his rescue story on TikTok and the videos went viral.
As soon as he was safely inside munching on lettuce and fresh vegetables, Castro called the local rescue force to see if anyone could get him in – but they were all full.
Instead of forcing him to another house who probably wouldn’t take care of him properly, she decided to keep him.
“Turns out this is the second time he’s been stoned, literally breaking my heart. I can’t imagine handing him over to someone who doesn’t fully love him,” Statuses Castro.
But the final hurdle will be introducing him to her cat, who she says is “a bit like a princess”.
Her fans are praising her for rescuing and keeping the bunny.
“He knows he’s safe, that’s why he sleeps with his stomach exposed. Welcome to the bunny life side🥰,” one follower wrote.
Other rabbit parents have offered tips and advice, to which Castro is grateful. She’s learning as she goes, but it’s clear the two have formed a bond.
Although the rabbit still doesn’t have an official name, there are a few ideas that come up. “We called him Bun, Carrot Boy, Banana Boy and Bunny,” speak Castro. But the fan favorite is “Moo” or “Cow” because he’s black and white.
See how happy he is to finally be in a loving home in the video below and don’t forget to share!
