The Steens and Alvord Desert BDR-X is the organization’s fifteenth route and the fourth in the BDR-X series of shorter BDR-style loops. Free GPS routes, travel resources, and downloadable/printable maps will be available at RideBDR.com/AlvordDesert.

“We created this BDR-X because Steels Mountain has to be seen to be believed. A far cry from the Cascades or the Rockies, this remote mountain has deep glacier-carved gorges and views down to the vast Alvord Desert that riders can experience on day two. It’s an inspiring loop that the racers will never forget.” — Bryce Stevens, co-founder of BDR and route architect

Mosko Moto is the current sponsor of this route. Luggage and clothing manufacturer based in White Salmon, WA, and perfectly located between the end ORBDR and the beginning of WABDR. For BDR riders, Mosko offers free camping at the Bates Mototel – about 8 km from downtown White Salmon (booking via email). Mosko’s co-founder and CEO joined the filming expedition.

“Alvord is one of my favorite places in the world. Large open space, free of noise, clutter and people. The sky is dark and the stars are vivid. It’s a very special place, and it’s away from everything, which is an important point. — Pete Day, Co-Founder & CEO Mosko Moto

About the Remote Area Discovery Route OR BDR-X

Designed to showcase the dramatic 5,000-foot elevation transition from Mount Steels to the Alvord Desert, this remote-controlled BDR-X begins and ends in Fields, Oregon (near section 1 of the Oregon BDR). The 246-mile loop can be completed in two days and offers a variety of surface terrain, including gravel roads, rocky doubles, overgrown dirt roads, and open deserts that make the BDR-X This is really unique. You can reach this 2-day loop after the snow melts and the road opens in June.
