Ascension appoints Eduardo Conrado as president


Ascension is promoting Strategy and Innovation Director Eduardo Conrado to president, effective February 1, the nonprofit Catholic health system announced Tuesday.

CEO Joseph Impicciche will cede the chairmanship to Conrado but will remain Ascension’s top executive. “Eduardo is a talented servant leader with the background, experience and talent to help us lead this change in this new role as we respond to an evolving healthcare environment. ,” Impicciche said in a press release. Conrado serves on the board of directors of Ascension based in St. Louis from 2014 to 2018, when he became chief digital officer. He switched to chief strategy and innovation officer in 2019.

An Ascension spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for more details.

Chief Executive Officer Craig Cordola will become executive vice president of Ascension Capital, the company also announced Tuesday. Ascension did not specify whether Conrado and Cordola will be replaced when they step down.

Ascension, with about $28 billion in annual revenue, operates more than 2,600 locations in 19 states. Health System reported a net loss of $879.4 million for the first quarter, which ended September 30, compared with a profit of $104.6 million in the first quarter of the prior year. Ascension recorded a net loss of $1.84 billion for fiscal year 2022, which ended June 30.
