Best of Show: Black and White – Gold – “Speleothems” by Martin Broen
DPG and Wetpixel Proud to announce the winners DPG / Wetpixel Masters Underwater Photography Competition 2021. Our respected panel of judges — Florian Fischer, Imran Ahmad, Jennifer Hayes, Mike Bartick and Stephen Frink — studied hundreds of entries by shooters from around the world.
Finally, it’s the Argentinian photographer Martin Broen who won “Best of Show” for his breathtaking photograph of pristine stalactites and stalagmites in a Mexican spire. The image claims Gold in Black and White, earning Martin the top cash prize of $1,000. Impressively, Martin also won a Silver (Joint) in the Traditional Wide Angle category as well as a Mentioned Award in the Black and White category — that is, a trio of winners from the Yucatán Peninsula. Congratulations, Martin!
We also congratulate the 1st place winners in other categories: Julian Hsu (Traditional Macros), Sander van der Heijden (Macro Unrestricted), Enrico Somogyi (Wide Angle Communication), Tom Shlesinger (Wide Angle), Unrestricted) and Alex del Olmo (Video); each of them received a cash prize of $250. Congratulations to all the winners and runners-up, and thank you to everyone who participated.
