After a year of waiting, the dog in the wheelchair is still looking for a forever home


It was definitely a rough start to the life of a sweet rescue dog named “Sanctuary”. He and his two brothers were discovered after being dumped in a cardboard box on the street. Apparently they were injured, malnourished, and had neurological symptoms. But now, he is happy, healthy and has a trendy wheelchair that helps him get around.

Both of his brothers have been adopted, but Sanctuary is still searching for his forever family just a year after he was saved.

On a cold February night in 2022, three six-week-old Pit Bulls were discovered in an alley in St. Louis. UmbrellaAfter being thrown off the street, they spent several weeks in The lost rescue of St. Louis’ Veterinary clinic. It was there that their scratches and wounds were taken care of, and their bellies were finally filled. The three of them spent several weeks there, but quickly found their way to the foster home.

Why can’t Sanctuary get around so well on its own?

Sanctuary has a neurological condition called cerebellar hypoplasia. So his The cerebellum is smaller than normal or not completely developed. Since that’s the part of the brain responsible for motor functions, he has difficulty moving and maintaining proper balance, posture, and coordination.

But thanks walking pets, Sanctuary has an incredible wheelchair that allows him the ability to move around and maintain his independence.

“His wheelchair has made the biggest difference in his life. It has helped him physically, mentally and emotionally. He can run, walk, eat, drink and go to the bathroom by himself,” said Clare, Sanctuary’s adoptive mother.

Although there is no cure for her disability, Sanctuary is still able to live a healthy and extremely happy life.

This sweet boy is so friendly, Be patient through physical therapy appointments and behave well in socialization classes. He loves playing with his toys (especially his lamb chops) and cuddling up on the couch after a fun day. Plus, he’s super smart and super silly.
