After 6 years on the street & 4 years in the shelter, the dog dances happily when adopted


The Dreadlock dog is used to life on the streets of Phuket, Thailand and even enjoys wandering around and visiting vendors and dog lovers in his neighborhood. The acquaintances he made during his years living on the street took care of Dreadlock and always made sure that this funny puppy was well fed and given lots of love. But poor Dreadlock has a skin problem. And as he got older, the heat and humidity of Thailand made his skin a nightmare of irritation, frizz and flaking.

Dreadlock-loving locals knew he needed more help than they could, so they reached out. Soi Dog Organization to help this good boy relieve his pain. And Dreadlock liked the place so much that he stayed at the rescue for many years. But then, he made a big move to find that person forever.

Goodbye Painful Skin, Hello Good Care

Dreadlock was named upon arrival at Soi Dog because, when he explain on Facebook“My coat was so fuzzy and dirty when I got to Soi Dog…it looked like messy curls.”

He went on to share that he has many skin problems, lack of hair and also limps because he has bone problems. But for all of that, Dreadlock says, “The vets here keep me as healthy as possible and I get regular meals that I LOVE!”

“My carers also bathe me once a week, so now I look a lot better looking and more people care about me than ever before. I was even taken for a walk!

a long vacation

Dreadlock will call Soi Dog a shelter for four years. But he doesn’t seem to mind, sharing: “I live with older dogs and I love being visited by volunteers every day. Sometimes I go out for a walk, but I don’t go far.”

Really, he’s just an old puppy who finds joy in “watching the world go by”.

And when Susan in the UK saw Dreadlock available for adoption, she must have felt they could enjoy such a pastime together since she had adopted the then ten-year-old dog early on. But what will Dreadlock think of this news?

Still Happy

Settling in with new mom Susan, Dreadlock remains the happiest dog and loves to go for walks in the wind.

He is also happy that after walking the streets of the UK with his family, he will return to the safety and joy of his permanent home.
