Adrien Broner Says He Will Fight Omar Figueroa On July 23

“This damn thing was set to happen years ago but I don’t complain when I see you guys participating #Chiraq# July 23#WorkOrDie“
The above post was posted on Adrien Broner’s Instagram page on Thursday, accompanied by a photo of the former multi-sport player standing face to face with Omar Figueroa. Unless Broner receives faulty or hacked information, he will meet with Figueroa on July 23 in Chicago. Broner, who was billed as Floyd Mayweather’s heir about a decade ago, has clearly failed to live up to long-held expectations. However, he’s always been an interesting fighter, which means his name is always in the spotlight.
Broner, of course, has not been particularly active in recent years. In fact, the man has only fought professionally three times since 2017. That’s three fights in five years. One of those fights ended in a draw when Broner went twelfth with Jesse Vargas in 2018. The Cincinnati-born player then moved on to lose to Manny Pacquiao in 2019. The boxer was called “The Problem” I finally got myself. returned to the winning column when he overcame the previously undefeated Javanie Santiago last February.
Like Broner, Figueroa is a former world player. The Texan was definitely a boxer to keep an eye on before he lost two matches in a row, to Yordenis Ugas and John Molina respectively. It’s been more than a year since his last game, but Figueroa is sure to bring much-needed attention to his career if he’s at the best Broner this summer. Broner and Figueroa were supposed to meet in 2018, but Figueroa had to leave the fight after being injured earlier. There is doubt that this match will be broadcast on pay-per-view, so fans should expect the match, if it happens on Showtime or Fox.
