Liam Smith Interested In Fighting Chris Eubank Jr
Liam Smith said he would be interested in fighting Chris Eubank Jr.
The former WBO superweight champion fights at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night against Jessie Vargas. A win for ‘Beefy’ will see him knock on the door for bigger fights.
Over the years, the 33-year-old has been involved in the fight against Kell Brook. The Sheffield boxer may be about to face Eubank Jr in the weight class starting this year but Smith says he will be open to facing either man in the future.
Smith told Boxing Social’s Andi Purewal: “I beat Jessie and I’m back in the mix, knocking on the door for world titles.
“Ask me Brook, suggest me Eubank, whatever name is being stoned. If you give them to me, I’ll take them. 154 is my division. I’ve been 154 of England’s best for many years now and I keep that claim until someone comes along to beat me and prove otherwise. ”
A weight of 158 lbs was apparently agreed for a fight between Brook, the former IBF welterweight champion, and the established middleweight Eubank.
“I will do a weight catcher. I’ll do 160 if needed. We have quarreled in the past. It was a game I was very happy with but we beat Jessie and I’m back in a very good position again. ”
“We had some good fights with Eubank Jr. I think I say I’m going to be in that match tomorrow that’s going to answer a lot of questions. “
