- New York Yankees star Aaron Judge is having a monster – and possibly historic – season. He added to it on Thursday night.
The right-handed slugger hit his league-leading 39th goal of the season to score the game’s only goal and overcame it in a 1-0 win over Royalhelping New York recover from a sweep earlier this week at the hands of Mets.
When Judge made a push to potentially tie or break Roger Maris’ record for most home yards in a single season by Yankee (61), his home run on Thursday helped he tied another legend for another record. This is Judge’s third home walk of the year, tying him up with Mickey Mantle the most by a Yankee in a single season.

Aaron Judge sealed a 1-0 victory for the New York Yankees, thanks to a comeback late in the ninth inning. It was his 39th home game of the season.
Thursday’s Judge’s hero comes in a rare rough patch for him this season. On Wednesday, he drew 0-5 against the Mets as the Yankees lost 3-2 in the playoffs. Before winning his game, Judge drew 0-2 with two strikes. He admitted Thursday’s game was tough after two against the Mets. But as he has many times this season, Judge has found a way through.
“Especially in that situation, I was [0-for-2] With two [strikeouts]. What is the worst that is about to happen? ” Scott Barlow. “I was just up there, trying to get work done. Dating back to 1975, only four players have achieved more than four walks in a single season. Andre Ethier is the one with the most, scoring six intro hits with the Dodgers in 2009.
Because he hasn’t hit a walking homer so far this season, Judge still has a way to go in the starters career if he wants to set another record. Jim Thome the most with 13 people, while six others (Foxx, Mantle, Musial, Babe Ruth, Frank Robinson and Albert Pujols) came in second with 12.
Andrew Benintendiwho played his first game against the Yankees on Thursday after being traded from the Royals on Wednesday, believes Judge read the script on how the game would end.
Benintendi said: “Seeing it from the other side, it was unbelievable what he was doing. “So to be a part of it tonight, it’s almost like it was painted exactly the way he wanted it to be.”
