Over 100 million people played the switch last year
Yesterday, we received Nintendo’s financial statements covering the second quarter of the fiscal year ended March 2023, and much to remove. If The best-selling Switch game, digital download data and upcoming release date Not enough to get your whistle wet, though, fear not as we have even more stats from today’s report.
A six-month presentation of follow-up findings has now been published, citing large numbers such as amiibo sold so far and how many people are there on NSO. However, one statistic that really stood out to us was the number of active Switch users over the past year (November 2021 to September 2022 – yes, confusingly), that total was reported. to be 106 million won player!
This is a significant increase from last year’s findings, which stood at 92 million, though perhaps more impressively the number is probably quite far away. You see, to collect this data, Nintendo analyzed every account registered with the Switch and counted all those that were used in the past year. This doesn’t include multiple users playing on the same account (which we’re sure we’ve all encountered), so the actual number of users playing is likely to be much higher.
Maybe so, Nintendo is keen to point out that this number of at least The 106 million players mark doesn’t show a downward trend in annual user counts – in fact, we’re looking at a number that’s almost 5 times what the console saw in its first year of release. For a console that is now over five years old, these are good numbers to look at.
Yes, Nintendo would have probably taken the lead on Switch 2, Pro, U, or whatever came next (at least, we hope so), but numbers like these suggest that if the Switch will be around for another year, we – among the other 100 million – will be there to play it.
